Our Company History

Marque Magnetics was established in 1986 through the efforts of Bob Smith and Erick Jensen, who saw the need for a highly technical custom wound component manufacturing company in the Australasian market.

Timeline

From our small beginnings in Auckland, New Zealand, we now service customers in over 20 countries. The business continues to expand, supported by our volume manufacturing site in China and headquarters and production facility in New Zealand.

Over the course of our history, Marque Magnetics has evolved from a technically driven manufacturing company to a design and solution-focused company solving engineering challenges.

Our mission is to power customer innovation with expertise in high reliability custom magnetics.

We value long term partnerships with our clients and aim to be the preferred designer and supplier of custom magnetics to the electronics industry, offering end-to-end support of the entire manufacturing process, ensuring complete control over quality control standards and delivery commitments.

As a product-driven business we pride ourselves on our technical experience, design capability and manufacturing excellence, but we are also proud to be a people and customer-oriented company.

1986

The company is founded by Bob Smith and Erick Jensen. Both men have extensive experience in the magnetics industry and see an opportunity to go out on their own.

1990

The factory moves from the initial cramped premises into a modern shared facility in Auckland, New Zealand. A year later, Marque Magnetics takes over the whole building.

1995

In order to supply volume customers, Marque Magnetics buys a six head automatic winding machine for their New Zealand plant.

2001

A joint venture is established with TOEC group and Huigao Magnetics Ltd is born, providing Marque Magnetics with volume production capacity in China.

2002

The first export orders to customers in Australia and Singapore are dispatched from Huigao Magnetics and sales expand throughout Asia Pacific.

2009

Marque Technologies Ltd is founded in Tianjin, giving Marque Magnetics total control over the supply chain and manufacturing processes.

2015

Due to expanding production requirements, Marque Technologies doubles the factory floor space to 2,800m2.

2020

Marque Magnetics New Zealand move their head office from Glendene to Hobsonville. The move provides a major upgrade to the office and manufacturing facilities.
